I finally had a chance to meet up with Carolyn and Sonitha for their Kennedy Center engagement session in DC! They were actually supposed to be married this weekend, but like many other couples this year made the difficult decision to postpone until 2021. The Kennedy Center offers the perfect mix of classic and modern Washington DC vibes for your engagement session. Even though its doors are currently closed (sending my heart to the artists and musicians that perform there), we were still able to photograph around the main terrace, with its gorgeous columns and willow trees. We also checked out the REACH, the Kennedy Center’s new expansion. PSA: you can also get married here! Carolyn and Sonitha both have amazing style, and I can’t wait to see how this gets translated into the design for their DC wedding with Alexandra Nesterak Events next spring.

BEHIND THE LENS

meet Winnie

Director, curator, documentarian, photographer, storyteller. Inspired by history, culture, and the stories that connect us.

My family immigrated to the United States as refugees, leaving their lives behind in search of a brighter future. With all their worldly belongings contained in the suitcases they carried, the scant photographs that crossed the ocean have served as a lifeline to stories untold, allowing me to piece together my family legacy, one image at a time. Decades later, I discovered photography as a medium to document my travels (37 countries and counting!) and encapsulate the joy and happiness that each new adventure brings.
