Cylburn Arboretum in Baltimore is absolutely stunning! I spent a lovely evening here with Angela and Kevin (and their fabulous puppy Mochi) and enjoyed getting to know these lovebirds a little better. Angela and Kevin met through work, and after a series of missed encounters over about two years, started dating. Kevin told me that after he was asked to help her team solve a problem at work, “I remember later being in a conference room to talk things through, but being so distracted by her presence and thinking about her, hoping that she was distracted by me too, that I can’t remember if I even made any sense.” Adorable!
Shooting engagement sessions with all of my couples before their wedding day not only allows us to get to know one another better and get comfy in front of the camera, but also allows me to observe a couple’s dynamics. I often joke with my brides and grooms that an engagement session is almost like a coaching lesson, where I’ll show them how to interact in front of the camera, but Angela and Kevin needed zero coaching! They are such naturals in front of the camera, but more importantly around one another. I love that they were able to forget that I was there (third wheeling like my usual self, hah!) and truly embrace their time together- and with Mochi!
You may notice that Kevin has a ring too! Angela and Kevin decided to both get engagement rings, and when I asked them about their reasoning behind that, they looked at one another and replied, “Equality.” Love that!
Lastly- you knew this was coming. I have to tell you about Mochi, their Samoyed puppy. IS SHE NOT THE CUTEST!? She’s not even a year old yet, but she is so well behaved…and almost has more Instagram followers than me (Go follower her @mochi_b_sammie). I’m going to find a way for Nugget to meet her, y’all. It’s happening. In case you’re thinking about bringing your fur-baby to your engagement session, DO IT. Here’s some helpful advice on the specifics of incorporating pets =)
