I can still hear the sound of Abigail’s joyful laughter, two months after the wedding. Abigail and Matt are so beloved by their friends and family, and threw one heck of a winter wedding party at the Josephine Butler Parks Center in Washington, DC. When I first met the couple and they told me they were getting married in February, I paused for a second. “February?” (just to confirm). “We like the cold,” she affirmed. As luck would have it, 40-something degrees makes for brisk but gorgeous winter wedding portraits! Their winter wedding also happened the day after a snow storm, and a few days following the polar vortex…so anything would have felt downright toasty at that point!
I love all the thoughtful details that Abigail and Matt incorporated into their wedding day. A custom painting from their engagement session graced the fireplace mantle at Josephine Butler Parks Center. Abigail and Matt cut their wedding cake (funfetti, I checked and it was delicious!) using Matt’s grandfather’s military sword. Abigail’s stunning emerald engagement ring set was passed down from Matt’s mother. Stunning winter florals from Audra Gannon Floral Design were sprinkled throughout the historic venue, including a palette of pinecones, anemones, creamy roses, and minty greenery. The guests danced the night away to Bachelor Boys, and ended with a romantic sparkler sendoff to cap the evening.
