As a photographer, there’s something uniquely special about capturing the essence of a wedding that’s simple, personal, and completely true to the couple. Alice and Xing’s intimate LGBTQ wedding at Raspberry Plain Manor in Leesburg was just that — a celebration of love, in its purest form.
From the start, the couple chose to break from tradition. Instead of getting ready separately or having a wedding party, Alice and Xing opted to prepare together, creating a calm and joyful atmosphere in the moments before their ceremony. Watching them share quiet moments, exchanging smiles and gentle touches, was a beautiful reminder of the deep bond they share. There was no rush, no pressure — just two people savoring the experience of becoming one.
Raspberry Plain Manor, with its historic charm and rolling countryside, provided the perfect backdrop for their day. The ceremony was small and personal, set against a lush, sun-drenched garden. With only their closest loved ones by their side, Alice and Xing exchanged vows that reflected their unique journey together. There was no need for anything extravagant, just the promise to continue to build a life full of love, laughter, and adventure.
One of the most meaningful moments of their celebration was the Chinese tea ceremony during the reception, a beautiful nod to Xing’s heritage. Alice, who is Korean, and Xing, who is Chinese, incorporated this tradition to honor both sides of their family. It was a touching moment, where the couple served tea to their parents and elders, symbolizing respect, gratitude, and the blending of their two cultures.
As a Washington DC fine art photographer, it’s always a privilege to witness moments like this, where every glance and every touch tells a story. Alice and Xing’s wedding was a celebration of what truly matters — love, connection, and the beautiful simplicity of choosing each other, always.
Congratulations, Alice and Xing. Your day was as radiant as the love you share.
