Hey y’all! I’m in the midst of fall family sessions and weddings, and between that and recently running a Ragnar Relay and prepping to bike the Seagull Century (where are my cyclist buddies at!?), life has be a whirlwind of awesome. It’s been a while since I’ve blogged, but today’s family session is totally worth the wait! We were originally scheduled to shoot at the farm in Derwood, but of course with it being fall, farms are busy doing…farm things. You know, with pumpkins and hayrides and whatnot. And then it was supposed to rain on Sunday. All of which to say, being flexible for family photos is very, very, important! We headed to Dogwood Park in Rockville on a sunny Saturday morning, and this family rocked their session.
Crystal and Steve arrived with Lillian and sweet little Preston and said, “We just need one! One photo for the Christmas card!” Parents, how many of you can relate to this? I can definitely relate because looking at my calendar, I’m quickly realizing that I may have neglected to schedule time for my own holiday card photos…oops. But I just need one photo!
Part of my job as a family portrait photographer is to read my clients and think about how to best draw out their personalities. In this case, Miss Lillian’s sassy personality was really the driving factor! She reminded me a lot of how my brother and I interacted growing up. Read: I enjoy(ed) being in charge! So we let her determine the flow of the session, and she did not disappoint. With some cajoling, sweet talking, and some excellent help from Crystal and Steve, we captured some really sweet moments. Little Preston was probably the smiliest almost-two-year-old I’ve captured! At any rate, I think this family will have more than one Christmas card photo to choose from 😉
I have very limited spots remaining in my calendar through the remainder of November. Please contact me to schedule your family session today. Winnie Dora Photography serves Rockville, Bethesda, Silver Spring, Gaithersburg, Potomac, Germantown, Fairfax, and beyond, and I would love to help you capture one (or more!) photos for your holiday cards. Let’s chat about your portrait session!
