Earlier this spring, I spent about 5 or 6 of my weekends out in Leesburg- how does it happen like that? Erica and Jon’s engagement session at Bluemont Vineyard was one of those times, and it was truly a showstopper. I first met Erica through my office job, and when she sent me a note saying she’d gotten engaged in Hawaii and was searching for a wedding photographer, I got so excited! We were actually in Hawaii at the same time (as part of a work conference- I know, rough life), and I had no idea this had happened- on the famous Stairway to Heaven hike, no less. These lovebirds met in college as part of the same fraternity- Jon was Erica’s pledge educator when she joined, and now they will tie the knot this fall.
Okay, so here’s my favorite part of their engagement session. I arrived to Bluemont Vineyard a little early to scope out locations. Erica called me sometime after and says, “So… we will be a little late. We realized that Jon forgot his white shirt, so we just stopped by the outlets and picked one up. We’re on our way now!” I am seriously impressed that these two made a mad dash through the outlets, were able to find a white button up that fit, then ran to another store to get it steamed (attention to details, it makes my heart sing!), made it to the session, and then were able to get all cute and cuddly while making it look effortless! I think we shot their entire session in 50 minutes or less, but they were complete naturals in front of the camera. It’s hard to keep your cool in situations like this (not to mention it was in the 90s and super humid), but they were totally calm and it made for gorgeous photos. I love all the vineyards and sweeping vistas in Loudon County- crossing my fingers that some of my couples will choose to come out here for their engagement sessions after seeing these!
